Can you learn Tai Chi online? Is it possible to learn the correct Tai Chi postures and navigate your way through all the Tai Chi movements well enough for you to gain some of the health benefits of tai chi?

Most Tai Chi Chuan teachers and practitioners would say, "Absolutely not! To learn Tai Chi you must get personal tai chi instruction with a qualified Tai Chi teacher".
And you know what?
I used to say exactly the same thing. I once believed if you really want to get the all the amazing Tai Chi benefits (i.e. helping yourself with physical fitness, weight loss, back pain, arthritis, stress and tension release, etc.) then finding a trusted teacher who can give you the right Tai Chi instruction was the only way to go.
But what about those people who can't find a qualified and credible Tai Chi teacher?
What about the people who may feel awkward going into a public class, or who can't afford the big class fees some of these teachers are asking?
What about the people who are in isolated areas and the nearest Tai Chi teacher is 100 miles away, or more?
To learn Tai Chi Chuan, is it all or nothing and these people just miss out on all the benefits Tai Chi has to offer?
Personally I don't accept that at all !!
So perhaps the question isn't so much, "Can you master Tai Chi online?" Perhaps the better question is, "Can you learn Tai Chi online well enough for you to at least get some of the benefits of Tai Chi Chuan?"
Over the last several years this question has burned in my brain and danced through my mind with ever increasing insistence. At first I also said, "No way! It's just not possible, there's no way you can learn Tai Chi online!"
But then I remembered the words of one of my teachers...
"If you say it can't be done then your creativity and inspiration are slammed shut. The creative flow of life is severed and no movement happens. So instead ask yourself - How can it be done? When you ask yourself this your creativity is engaged and your imagination starts seeking pathways around the apparent obstacle."
So can Tai Chi be learned online? Can YOU learn Tai Chi online?
How can this be done?
You will discover that question underlining every single page of Tai-Chi-Wizard.com, especially my Learn Tai Chi Online for FREE page. And it's the journey, the quest, that I am asking you to join me on.
What you will find on Tai-Chi-Wizard.com are my humble and earnest attempts to provide you with everything you need to learn Tai Chi online, in particular the Yang style Tai Chi Chuan, via this amazing thing we call the Internet.
But please do not think for a second that it is about me trying to teach you ... like I am some sort of self-appointed teacher and you are the student.
No way!
It is about you and I learning together ... literally. Rather than a "teaching" resource, Tai-Chi-Wizard.com is a SHARING resource. Yes, it is about me sharing with you all the gems and treasures that I have learned along my Tai Chi journey. But it is also very much about you sharing your Tai Chi journey both with me and with all the good folks who regularly lurk amongst the pages of this website.
I really must be straight down the line with you though.
Learning Tai Chi online could never be as good as learning from a trusted Tai Chi teacher. If you have such a teacher then this website will serve you as a supplement to your Tai Chi training. It will also be a place for you to share and exchange information and resources with other Tai Chi players.
If you don't have a readily accessible teacher then the resources you find on Tai-Chi-Wizard.com will provide you with a good starting point and help you achieve a level where you will experience some of the benefits that Tai Chi provides. Then maybe you can find a good teacher to continue your Tai Chi education, like the one's listed in my Tai Chi Class Directory, or whose events are listed on the Tai Chi & Taoist Events Calendar.
On every page there ways for you to share your thoughts, views, and knowledge. There are also ways for you to share Tai-Chi-Wizard.com with the rest of the world. I would like to sincerely ask you to take advantage of these sharing opportunities.
